Lovely outdoor space as the windproof cherry on the cake
Penthouse living space extended with multifunctional Camargue
A penthouse near the Hippodroom in Waregem comes with an incredible view. Its owners could not resist this vista on the top floor of the Zuidboulevard project. The magnificent patio was another reason for them to buy it. “Sady, we were unable to use our patio as much as we expected. It just wasn’t pleasant when the sun was too bright or the wind was blowing. We sought and found a solution at Renson”, say the residents.
The spacious patio is one of the main attractions of the beautiful roof apartment in Zuidboulevard. But, with the strong sun and wind it was often impossible to use. Such a shame, and the owners thought so too. Fortunately, a patio cover from Renson solved the problem. “Our Camargue protects us from bright sun and strong wind. Now, we have an extra outdoor space that we can almost always use and where our garden furniture is protected. We use our patio almost all year round, alone or when friends come and visit. They are always pleasantly surprised.”

Windproof solution
A parasol is what first comes to mind as protection from bright sunshine. However, with the wind at this height, it was just too risky. So, it was hardly surprising that the couple was first sceptical about the concept of a cover for their penthouse patio. ‘We asked our Renson installer, Demaeght Zonwering, if this was really an option”, they said. “It was no problem at all. The legs have extra reinforcement and after expert installation we can speak from experience: our patio cover is stable and entirely windproof.” The blades are remotely operated depending on the wind. By choosing the correct angle, you alter the wind and create a pleasant setting.

Optimal configuration
This Renson Camargue in the penthouse was the result of good collaboration between the customer and distributor. Guidance was given from A to Z. Initially, the owners wanted a dark colour. Kenny Demaeght: “We recommended a colour that was more similar to the façade, a somewhat lighter shade. Our customers followed this advice and are now delighted that they did. Together, we also decided to add both windproof screens and sliding panels. With the sliding panels they choose how much light and wind can enter. Meanwhile, the residents are considering adding some glass sliding panels too, so that they can also sit there and be nice and cosy in the winter. Then they can really enjoy their patio all year round.”
