Linarte façade cladding creates captivating dialogue between light and dark

In this cosy villa in Uden, you are in touch with the outdoors from every room. This is precisely why Lenz Architects chose to position it right in the middle of the plot. In a concept where the boundaries between the front and back are somewhat blurred, visitors are still intuitively led to the front door. The aluminium façade cladding, including mysterious lighting, plays a part in this.

To make maximum use of the beautiful location and the spacious plot, the client and architect jointly decided to demolish the existing house and erect a new building in the middle of the plot. This creates a garden in both the front and back of the house. The main volume, with a gable roof and a flat extension, uses a simple formal language. Architect Tim Robben: "That left room to make an architectural difference in a new way. In the interior, the floating staircase leading over the kitchen immediately attracts attention. It adds a creative touch to the sleek but cosy interior."

That sleek character with a playful touch was also reflected on the façade by Lenz Architects. The search for a sustainable alternative to a wooden façade led them to Linarte. "We were pleasantly surprised by the possibilities of this system," recalls the architect. "The customer was also immediately enthusiastic. They were happy to allocate extra funds for it within the overall budget because they saw the added value."

It quickly became clear that we wanted to make the most of Linarte's ample architectural possibilities.

A touch of mystery
The dark façade surface intrigues and attracts attention. "The rhythm of randomness creates a beautiful effect," says Robben. "From an aesthetic point of view, we decided to use the Even profile. It allowed for a subtle and sleek execution." The façade cladding matches the exterior joinery perfectly. For example, an inward-swinging door on the front façade, which is barely 1.5 metres wide, is covered with the aluminium profiles. The fact that you can barely see it is Linarte's strength.

The deep black colour of the aluminium façade surface creates a fascinating contrast with the white villa. The wooden inserts and the seemingly randomly positioned LED lines accentuate that dialogue. "It quickly became clear that we wanted to make the most of Linarte's ample architectural possibilities. We embedded the house number with wooden inserts and added lighting, which is intended to excite people and attract attention. We can now say with absolute conviction that we have succeeded in that mission."
